Globalist Think Tank Trots Out Iran Attack Scenario

July 21, 2009

In a hare-brained nightmare scenario dreamed up by the Center for Strategic and International Studies — home-base for neocon crackpots such as Michael Ledeen and war criminals of Madeleine Albright’s caliber — Iran manages to produce a nuclear weapon and drops it on Israel, ultimately killing 800,000 people. “Retaliatory Israeli nuclear strikes, with higher-yield bombs and accurate rocket delivery systems, would be far more destructive,” writes Peter Goodspeed for the National Post. “A full-fledged Israeli nuclear response, using some, but not all, of its 200 nuclear weapons, would target most major Iranian cities and major military bases. It would kill 16 million to 28 million people within three weeks.”

Kissinger & The CIA’s Color Revolution in Iran

June 22, 2009

We all know that the CIA has been involved in several coup d’états ever since President Harry S. Truman spawned this creature. Hell, they’ve even done it once before in Iran, in 1953. And I think we also know that Iran has been in the crosshairs of the neocons, neoliberals and other policy makers for quite a while. Even the RAND Corporation has been lobbying for another world war to save the U.S. economy.

And that, I think is reason enough to consider the possibility that the spooks might have their dirty little hands in this one as well. It is of course their modus operandi.

Iran to Supply Pakistan with Free Electricity

May 22, 2009

Iran plans to supply Pakistan with 100 megawatt electricity free of charge, says the Iranian Ambassador to Islamabad Mashaallah Shakeri. “All the groundwork in this connection has been completed and the power supply would start as soon as Pakistan finalizes work on transmission lines,” said Shakeri in a meeting with Pakistani Federal Minister for Communications Arbab Alamgir.

Western Media Propagandize Iran’s Missile Test

May 21, 2009

Iran announced on Wednesday that it had successfully tested its Sejil 2 surface-to-surface missile, and Western media sources took the opportunity to portray the Middle Eastern nation as a threat to world peace and, specifically, as a threat to Israel.

The Seijl 2 missile has a range of about 1,200 miles, and thus would be capable of hitting Israel, but Iran’s President Ahmadinejad announced in a speech following what he deemed a successful test that the missile’s purpose was to protect Iran from the threat of aggression.

Still, media accounts in the U.S. and other Western nations portrayed Iran’s test as a threatening provocation and linked it to an Iranian nuclear weapons program there is no evidence actually exists.

Israel gives Obama until end of year on Iran

May 20, 2009

Netanyahu said that Israel has the right to defend itself. He did not spare Obama a description of Jewish suffering throughout history and spoke of his commitment to preserving Israel and the Jewish nation.

Netanyahu said he hopes “Obama will succeed” in his talks with Iran, but this is a diplomatic phrase. It is doubtful that he believes the Iranians will suddenly become nice and give up their nuclear program just because Obama talks with them.

In practice, this means that Netanyahu agreed to give Obama until the end of the year. Then, if Iran’s nuclear program is still proceeding, Israel will consider “other options.”

Fight for Oil: 100 Years in the Middle East

May 16, 2009

The history of the race for oil in the Middle East, and the conflict is caused between world powers in the 20th century, is explored in this documentary.

As the race for oil began Britain, Russia, The USA, Germany and France all began to lay claim to the land in the Middle East, bidding to control the natural resources and related wealth it provided.

Nobel Peace Prize winner and human rights lawyer Shirin Ebadi gives her thoughts on the former Prime Minister of Iran, Mohammed Mossadegh, and his fight for independence from the world powers.

Britain’s influence on Iran and the Middle East, through the creation of monarchies, armies and parliaments, is explored, as well as the impact of its withdrawal from the region.

This is part of a series focusing on the history of oil and the conflicts it has caused, many of which continue today.

Iran’s missiles not an existential threat

May 14, 2009

Iran is currently capable of carrying out a conventional missile attack on Israel – a substantial but not existential threat, say two Israeli analysts who will present their research on Tehran’s missile capacity tomorrow. The analysts consider Iran’s missile arsenal its main deterrent and describe the country’s significant investments in the area.

The Bomb Iran Faction

May 13, 2009

There is clearly a faction of the power elite that is, and has for some years been pressing, for a U.S. military attack on Iran. It is not advocating a war, at least openly, or an occupation of that vast nation; rather, it is advocating an operation similar in concept to the Israeli attack on Iraq’s French-built Osiraq nuclear reactor in 1981. In a word, it is both advocating an Israeli-like action and justifying it explicitly as one on behalf of Israel.
